1.Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitors

Alcon manufactures a large range of screw terminal aluminium electrolytic capacitors with voltage rating 50 to 500 VDC. Modern manufacturing methodology and equipment ensures good quality and a wide range of capacitance ratings from 330 to 200,000 MFD. In addition to the conventional screw terminal type, special poka yoke type screw terminals are also available. Capacitor with temperature rating -40 to +85° and -40 to +105° rating are manufactured. These have life characteristics of upto 15,000 hours. Custom designed capacitors with cost effective designs, special voltage and capacitance ratings and with higher life expectancy are also available.

2.DC Link Capacitors

The series designated DCL 23, have a very low equivalent series inductance (ESL). The coaxial construction can give an ESL as low as 11 nH. These features make them suitable for use at high resonant frequency 61 to 460 K Hz. The internal design uses segmented film. This ensures controlled “self healing”. These capacitors can be used in induction heating equipment, resonant power supplies, high ripple current circuits to name only a few. The DCL 41 and DCL 50 series are made with metallised polypropylene film and have a maximum voltage rating of 2400 VDC and 1800 VDC respectively. The DCL 41 series are designed for use in UPS systems, wind and solar inverters, traction and industrial drives. The DCL-41and DCL -50 series are ideally suited for impulse discharge applications such as magnetising and welding.

3.IGBT Snubber Capacitors

Alcon IGBT snubbers capacitors MP-4, MP-4A, KPF and KPF-9 are designed for high power convertors and use a low loss dielectric of polypropylene film. The capacitors with double metallised plastic film electrodes and with metallised polypropylene as a quasi electrode with an internal series construction are designated MP-4 and MP-4A. These are recommended for low and medium pulse application. Capacitors designed for extremely high pulse applications have aluminium foil as electrodes and have a metallised polypropylene quasi electrode with an internal series construction. These capacitors are designated KPF and KPF-9. The MP-4, MP-4A, KPF and the KPF-9 capacitors have self healing properties. Another type of capacitors are designated KP-3C. These capacitors are unique since they have extended aluminium foil electrodes with polypropylene film dielectric and are impregnated. This design is not only suitable for IGBT protection circuits and snubber networks but can also be effectively used in low and medium frequency tuning / resonant circuits. The Alcon range of IGBT snubber capacitors are ROHS and REACH compliant. Flame retardant characteristics are ensured by use of plastic enclosure and epoxy end fill which conform to UL94-VO. A total 24 terminal styles and 35 case sizes are available as a standard.

4.Power Film Capacitors

Power Film capacitors are designed for varied applications like induction heating, plasma generators, medical equipment, Magnetizers, Wireless electric vehicle chargers and auxiliary power supplies and resonant circuits. The modular design facilitates connections in parallel and series as needed. These capacitors are designed to work over a wide frequency range 5 Khz to 1 MHz. Some of the other salient features of these capacitors are, current ratings 200 to 1250 Arms, voltage ratings 400 to 1200 Vrms and power ratings 150 to 1000 KVAR.
